My sister-in-law had a baby! A beautiful baby girl. This made me an aunt for the very first time, and as an aunt, I had to spoil her a little. I made her 5 burp cloths and a very soft receiving blanket. The receiving blanket (and one of the burp cloths) was made out of flannel shirting materiel. All of the burp cloths are backed with a light purple terry cloth and four of them are made from extremely luxurious flannel that I got at a specialty quilting shop. I have really never felt flannel so soft and I’m going to have a hard time going back to the less expensive, but less comfy stuff in the future.

I have a problem. It’s a pretty big problem, actually. I can never find my keys. Or my sunglasses. Or my wallet. The other day I really needed a sewing project. That, along with my inability to keep track of such important things, caused me to make this little box.

The outside of the box is quilting fabric and corduroy.

The inside of the box (as well as the bottom on the outside) is made from duck cloth to help it keep its shape.

The pieces for this bag have been sitting in a drawer for quite a while. I’m not entirely sure what I plan to use it for. Originally I was planning on using it as a knitting bag, and it may still be, but it may also end up being used for other nerdy pursuits… like gaming. In the mean time, it is going to Seattle with me. I’m going to pack it in my suitcase in case I need extra room for packing on the way home.

A while back, I found a pair of Jenna’s old jeans. They were too cute to get rid of, so they had just been sitting around. A friend suggested I turn them into a purse, Jenna liked the idea, and this is how it turned out!
