My original reading goal for 2017 was 52 books. I surpassed this by consuming 130. Below are a few stats from this year, along with a complete reading list including ratings.
I tend to read romance especially when I am experiencing a large amount of stress or anxiety. So this is a pretty good indicator of how my year went in that regard. Romance is soothing, and tends to be formulaic which translates to wonderfully predictable. (Happily ever after is always nice when things are rough.) It also tends to score lower ratings overall. A good romance score from me is a three. Above that, and you can assume that it’s something special.
I just barely beat my initial Goodreads goal by reading physical books alone. The reason I generally refer to books consumed v books read, is because I do listen to a lot of audio books. I’ve come to find that there are some stories that are just better read aloud. That said, there are also some that I know would get a higher score from me if I read the physical book.
