my creepy, stalker poem…

I woke up this morning from a bizzarre Lifetime Movie-esque dream. Only it was a musical… and this was the main song that was being performed. I wrote it down as quickly as I could, and luckily songs translate well into spoken word poetry because I have no talent when it comes to writing music. Personally, I suggest you make up a tune in your head. Yay! Interactive blog post day!

I knocked you out from behind,
and I tied you to a chair last night,
but it’s okay, because this is how I show my love,
and you will likely survive.

I probably won’t hurt you now,
as long as you don’t make a sound,
and this is how I show my love,
my darling, so you don’t need to be afraid.

I will untie your hands, if you promise not to fight,
and we will play Catan in the candlelight.
It seems that these days,
I show my love through forced board game play.

My basement is drafty and dank to be sure,
but if you just give in, I could give you so much more.
I have other games in which we could partake
and I could show you my love everyday.

However, you seem to insist
that with your struggle for freedom you will not desist,
and that’s okay,
I didn’t really want to love you anyway.
