bleed blue…

For those of you that don’t know, I’m a huge Boise State Broncos fan. I love me some college football, and I’ve wanted to go see the boys on the blue for a very long time. In an amazing twist of fate, one of my friends ended up with some free tickets to the game and, knowing that it was one of the things on my bucket list, he offered me one! I was blown away and so excited for the opportunity.

Pretty much, it was amazing. The crowd was extremely loud and energized from the first second to the last. Even though we lost, I had a blast. It was an amazing night, and I am so thankful for good friends helping me mark another thing off my bucket list!

so many questions…

So… this is the thing? I have a friend? And she and I decided we were only talking in questions today? I had this poem sitting in a notebook for some time, and it didn’t have the question marks, but I thought I would give it an edit and share it for this game because it seemed to fit?

Enjoy? And have a good day?

How many things
are there to do?
I’ve seen you?
I’ve seen the way you play?
There are so many people
that you purposely hurt?
Run away?
Run away and leave us be?
On this day,
I prefer to purge?
No longer welcome,
no longer wanted,
leave and stay elsewhere,
but do not remain here?

Oh, and go check out my previously mentioned friend’s new comic? I think you will like it?! http://familyportweets.com/

pierced…

Everyone needs a friend that will push them to do exciting things. I have at least one, but the one I’m writing this about right now is my pal Andrea.

Andrea is the kind of friend that gets me to dance in the front seat of cars and walk through big cities like I own them. She’s the kind of friend that will probably convince me to ride the giant new ferris-wheel in Seattle, and who does convince me to make last minute plans to do awesome things on a regular basis. Also, along with being the friend who watches my kids when I need a sitter, who jumps on an airplane to help me with every birthday party that my kids have, and who goes to things like Geek Girl Con with me, she’s the kind of friend that I pose for crazy pictures with calamari with. Observe:

Yesterday we were going to pizza. Pizza happened to be next door to a tattoo and piercing shop. A long while back Andrea and I had talked about getting our noses pierced together, but we’d never really made time for it. There were always goblins, or events, or a lack of money, or family in the way. Anyhow, today there was nothing between us and a needle poking through our noses. Today we had people around to watch the goblins, we had money in our bank accounts, and we had time. So, after a delicious pizza lunch, we walked into the shop, filled out the forms, and we got our noses pierced! Yay!

So, now my nose is studded (soon to be ringed… I think, although I like the stud better than I thought I would), and my bucket list is down an item. I’m pretty jazzed about the whole experience!

travel, photography, comics, and life…

It’s been a busy few weeks.

I went to Seattle, and that was great. I spent a far too short weekend with my friends Drew and Andrea and their son Andy. We celebrated Andy’s first birthday. He’s growing up incredibly fast. Sometimes I still lament that they live so far away and not next door (where they used to live), because if they were next door, I would know the little man better. Also, I would get to spend more time with friends that make me happy. The visits are nice though, and I cherish them. We went to Bainbridge Island, ate good food, walked around the city, and spent a lot of time laughing. It was short, but it was refreshing.

Following my whirlwind trip, I got home and cleaned my house like crazy. The same friends I visited ended up staying with me for a few days while they were in town for a funeral. Again, the time was far too short, but it was good to have a little extra time with them, even if the situation was less than ideal.

The day they left, I got busy with final edits for a photography/poetry project I had scheduled with my friend Heidi. Heidi is an amazing photographer, and currently very pregnant. We were running on borrowed time with this project, so there was no room for delay. The photo shoot went well, even if not flawlessly. I’m super excited to see finished pictures and to get some sort of show going for the whole project.

Before I left for Seattle (backtracking, I know) I started a new web comic. Many of you know the story of the last comic, but I don’t feel like rehashing the entire mess that lead to its demise. It wasn’t pretty, and it hurt, and I’m glad to be done with it, moving forward with something new, and having the opportunity to write punchlines once again. For those of you interested, you can find my new comic Jasper and Sally at jasperandsally.com.

I plan on doing more poetry to get up on the blog soon. I have some observation haiku to publish on here, as well as some other things. Also, I’m going back to Seattle in a week, this time to see my mommy and daddy. (HOLY CRAP I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MY MOMMY AND DADDY!) I have a lot of stuff planned that will be insanely blog worthy.

So yes, things to come on the blog:
Observational Haiku
Possible Other Poetry
Andy’s Amazing First Birthday Party
Baseball
King Tut
General Fun With My Parents

Anyhow, I felt it was time to check in. Write at you again soon!

fluff piece #26: a limerick for a specific person…

In a land filled with magic and snow
lived a girl that liked birds and to sew.
Her daughters were merry,
she loved her some dairy,
and liked sporks more than most folks I know.

This is a mostly factual limerick about my friend Krista. She was my 30th fan on Facebook today! That (along with many other things) makes her extremely special.

P.S. Krista has a Facebook page of her own. She makes and sells amazingly cute cloth diapers/diaper covers.  Even if you don’t cloth diaper your children, or your children are too old for such things, I would check her out. Seriously, her stuff is cute.

P.P.S. My Facebook is a good place to make sure that you don’t miss any of the writing I do on the internet. You know, if you don’t want to. It is also where I talk occasionally about new and upcoming projects I am working on. Information that nobody else gets. It makes you special. *wink*
